Abstract
The effect of tilting the device antennas in relation to a standardized 2D channel model is evaluated numerically to emulate the expected performance using a MIMO OTA anechoic chamber method. The mobile device evaluation includes a method using the internal device noise and antenna efficiency in the evaluation of capacity with a standardized channel model, along with a similar evaluation based on an externally applied SNR. The SNR case is more representative of the operating conditions when MIMO transmissions modes would be used on wireless networks, i.e. well above the device sensitivity level. In this paper, the SNR case is shown to be insensitive to the device tilting for the specific antennas that were modeled.
