Abstract :
In this paper, a reconfigurable antenna for WWAN (Wireless Wide Area Network) mobile handset application is proposed. The proposed antenna consists of a conventional PIFA, a parasitic line, a PIN diode, and a bias line. When PIN diode is the on-state, the measured results show that the -6 dB reflection coefficient bandwidths are 8.15% (824-894 MHz) at low band and 34.12% (1580-2230 MHz) at high band. Therefore, the proposed antenna covers GSM850, GSM1800, GSM1900 and UMTS. When PIN diode is off-state, the measured results show that the -6 dB reflection coefficient bandwidth is 12.15% (850-960 MHz), which covers GSM900 band.
