Abstract :
There have been reports in the literature that the performance of a dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) may be affected by structural parameters such as the gap between the feed and DRA and the size of ground plane or substrate supporting the DRA, and by the method of feed and also determined by the mode of operation. Usually, a DRA is positioned either above a ground plane or a substrate. In the former case, the DRA may be fed by a probe or a slot whilst in the latter case the DRA may be fed by a microstrip line. In this paper, we investigate the performance of a DRA structure with the DRA embedded into the substrate of a microstrip line feed and report the results of this investigation.
