Abstract :
In this paper, a notch in a UWB antenna using uni-planar electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) structure is presented. A one dimensional EBG structure coupled with microstrip line provides a narrow bandgap which is used in obtaining a notch in the ultra wideband (UWB) antenna. The effect of the meander line and the inter-digital capacitor of the unit cell are studied. A band notched UWB antenna is designed and fabricated giving a notch at 5.2 GHz WLAN frequency.
