Abstract :
In the paper, we describe the design and simulation of a miniaturized bow-tie slot antenna with a coplanar waveguide (CPW) feed. The antenna was designed for wireless body centric communication between a health monitoring device and a sensor or between two sensors in the ISM frequency band 2.4÷2.5 GHz (ITU-R 5.138, 5.150 and 5.280). We developed a fractal-like concept of a magnetic dipole which enabled us to design an antenna with reduced dimensions, improved radiation pattern and polarization properties optimized for body centric communication. The antenna was placed on a human body phantom and simulated. The antenna was designed considering a single-layer technology. For the fabrication, we used the dielectric substrate FR4.
