Abstract :
In this paper, we study the behavior of a planar antenna, which operates in proximity of a human body models. The antenna was designed for wireless body centric communication between a health monitoring device and a sensor in the ISM frequency band from 5.725 GHz to 5.875 GHz (ITU-R 5.138, 5.150 and 5.280). The study shows properties of the antenna in various distances from a human body model from the viewpoint of impedance matching and radiation patterns. The antenna was designed considering double-layer technology and an Arlon substrate. Prototypes were fed by a 50 Ω coaxial cable.
