Abstract :
The concept of using PBG wave-guiding technology to design various devices including feeding networks and antenna arrays in the THz frequency band is contributed. The extension of classical designs to terahertz frequencies is not straight-forward. The higher the frequency the more the structure becomes difficult in its analysis as multiple effects (thick substrate, multiple of metallic objects/tracks on the surface) add up in complex ways. To overcome those problems, in the work at hand, THz devices assembled by cylindrical dielectric rods based on PBG technology are proposed. Their analysis is addressed by an accurate and effective Low-Rank Kernel Method of Moments implementation. Validation and design examples are given.
