Abstract :
Getting efficient tools to assure traceability in supply chain, with low impact in traditional procedures, is one of the main concerns nowadays of food producers and distributors, to be compliant with legislation and to keep the confidence of their consumers. Improved visibility into the processes applied to a product and the ability to show costumers, and/or competent authorities, enhanced information as a proof of product quality are of special importance in products like wine (i.e. regional origin should be guaranteed to justify a higher price for the product). A solution for supply chain traceability combining radiofrequency identification and sensor networks allows automating data collection in digital support along all the stages of wine elaboration, while reducing registration errors and making available the state, location... of intermediate and final products, on demand and at any point of the process.
