            Abstract :
A highly power-efficient wide band Suspended Plate Antenna (SPA) is proposed in this paper for use as an element prototype for Base Station arrays. The antenna bandwidth is enhanced by a tapered feeding technique to fully cover the 250 MHz band required for LTE operation. 3D radiation pattern measurements show good performance. The SPA achieves a high radiation efficiency of 90% and an average transmission efficiency of 87% across the whole LTE band.
