Abstract :
This paper presents a Genetic Algorithm (GA) based Method for the allocation and tuning of TCSC to improve poorly damped oscillations. The method only uses Eigen-values of systems oscillatory modes, thus system transfer function isn´t needed. This feature makes the method applicable in large systems which all of the system data aren´t available. The method is implemented in DIgSILENT software which contains a powerful programming language called DPL. The effectiveness of the method has been tested on IEEE 9-bus system.
