Abstract :
Accurately modelling monopulse antenna patterns is key to achieving accurate tracking, especially off-boresight tracking, and correctly understanding the operation of monopulse radars. A number of monopulse models are presented and their accuracy is evaluated by comparing them to measured monopulse antenna patterns. These models all achieve greater accuracy than the widely-used linear model, though at the cost of additional complexity. The accuracy of all the models is comparable, so the choice of which model is most suitable will depend on the application at hand rather than on model accuracy.
