Abstract
A new passive localization method with non-sensitivity to the quality of the initial guess is proposed. An adapted damping parameter is combing to nonlinear equations so as to force the nonlinear localization dynamic convergence from a wider range of initial guesses to the minimum. Although it is developed in the context of passive location using the angle-of-arrivals measurements (AOAs), the new method can be applied to other kinds of nonlinear technique localization problems. Simulation results show that the algorithm converges from a widely initial guesses, and is more robust than Gauss-Newton methods.
