AN engineering English learing program on a campus LAN

China´s college English education has long been criticized for its old-fashioned teaching material, method, and assessment system. Many experts suggest that teaching English for specific purpose, instead of teaching English for general purpose should be the core of college English education. The teaching method should be changed as well, and new technologies, methodologies should be introduced into college English teaching. This paper proposes an E-learning system architecture for a Petroleum academic English Course for junior students in Southwest Petroleum University, whose aim is to develop their reading and writing proficiency. This paper describes the design and implementation of this project.
