Abstract :
This paper reviews general aspects about the current status and future activities towards implementation of advanced smart grid functionalities in the Ecuadorian National Interconnected System. Based on recent developmental breakthroughs, solutions to some relevant embedded operational issues are suggested in order to minimize the system security risks. Preliminary research results demonstrate the viewpoint and effectiveness of some of the proposals.
