Abstract :
The frequency of route discovery is one of the main performance metrics in the mobile ad hoc networks with source-routing. Conventionally, this metric was derived from the exponential distribution. Although it might be appropriate to the paradigms directed mainly by the voice traffic, the exponential model is inadequate to characterize the scenarios dominated by heavy-tailed data traffic. In this paper, we present an approach to characterize the data traffic through the compound Pareto distribution. The proposed models are based on the reliability archetypes of the series and parallel connections.
