Abstract
The centrifugal casting process is a recognized technology that improves the quality and efficiency of induction motors and was largely used in the past in large integral horsepower motors. Recently this process caught the attention of small induction motors manufacturers and was implemented by some manufacturers of hermetic compressors for domestic refrigeration. Although some benefits of the centrifugal casting process are the same in small and large induction motors, there is one important contribution that is more pronounced in single-phase motors without run capacitors and it will be discussed in this paper. This work presents information of centrifugal casting process and experimental results obtained with induction motors with and without run capacitor.
