Abstract
This paper presents the fabrication and application of a mobile chamber (M-Chamber) for lab bench characterizations that involves high power measurement such as short circuit measurement, current limitation and big load application measurement. Most of the available power supplies in the lab do not have the capability to provide high current; hence, it is needed to apply capacitors in the bench setup to boost the power of the supply for a short pulse. An additional capacitor bank definitely adds up to the equipment connection which indirectly makes the setup untidy and does not comply with the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA). The idea of a mobile chamber is to have a safety scheme where discharging resistors are placed in the chamber and at the same time to have a neat bench setup. In addition, this could help to discharge the charged capacitor in a short time and avoid any mishaps to the user. An experimental study on the capacitor discharging time was done to evaluate the capacitor´s characteristics in a real-time application.
