  • Abstract
As an important issue of the emotional computing and intelligent human-machine interaction technology, the facial expression recognition has received extensive attention and fast development in recently. In this paper, we give a review for the latest progress of the domestic and international facial expression recognition technology since 2006 .The three steps of the FER system are introduced: face detection, expressional feature extraction and expression classification. We focus on the method of expressional feature extraction of basic expression, mixed expression and micro expression, non-basic expression, and then we discuss the expression classification method. Finally, we analyze the problem of facial expression recognition technology, as well as the future direction of development; it is instructive for the in-depth study of facial expression recognition.
