Abstract :
This paper describes a broadband millimeter wave antenna based upon a coplanar waveguide fed aperture bowtie geometry for system-in-package applications. The modifications added to the bowtie increase its bandwidth without increasing its size. Measurements confirm a 41% impedance bandwidth at a center frequency of 75 GHz on a low cost FR408 substrate. The addition of an electromagnetic band gap material into a ground plane is also added for applications where isolation from one hemisphere is desirable.
