Abstract :
At present, Chinese BeiDou satellite navigation system has launched sixteen satellites, BeiDou has been capable of regional navigation and positioning. By providing information such as position, direction and speed and so on, BeiDou can be used for navigation , positioning and timing. For the satellite navigation signal is LOS propagation,in some environments such as urban high buildings, canyon and dense trees, the satellite navigation signal may be blocked. And the positioning error of BeiDou navigation receiver may become large. The positioning availability may decrease. It will affect the efficiency of any application based on BeiDou system Assessing BeiDou signal quality such as availability and accuracy is important before implementing any application in certain area.A method has been proposed for assessing the availability and accuracy of BeiDou satellite navigation system. The mentioned characteristics of BeiDou signal are addressed. Some methods evaluating the availability and accuracy of BeiDou signal are given in detail. In order to collect data and analysis the performance of BeiDou signal, BeiDou signal evaluation platform based on LabVIEW is designed. Some field data are recorded by the platform. Based on the collected data, some parameters, such as satellite visibility, positioning avalibility and dilution of precision (DOP) of BeiDou were analyzed. A GUI(Graphical User Interface) was created using LabVIEW to read BeiDou data and analysis the data. The prototype of the system being implemented in LabVlEW, theoretical and experimental investigations are discussed and provided.
