Abstract :
This paper presents a new virtual environment (YE) which employs a dynamic 3-D model of the classroom. It is based on powerful scientific visualization techniques and can be used as an effective aide in online virtual teaching. The learners enters the virtual model of the classroom as an avatar, navigate through it, zooms in or out as he or she wishes, changes his or her view point and perspective in the virtual world. The virtual reality classroom allows for a learning experience, and facilitates the mental construction of three-dimensional space, where objects are varied and different, but share common features. This paper will also illustrate a YE environment in the form of a classroom developed to deliver any lecture module the instructor wants to teach. The proposed application replicates the classroom environment and enhances the learning through real-time interaction between students and instructor.
