Abstract
Matched filtering is a common method for analyzing known waveforms of interest. From analyzing images for target recognition, to identifying coding within a noisy transmission, matched filtering via cross correlation is commonly used. This paper presents an implementation for identifying impacts using an accelerometer and matched filtering via cross correlation. Matlab was used for proof of concept and simulation. The Altera DE2 FPGA development board employing matched filters and Labview employing spectral cross correlation were used for the real-time implementation.
