Abstract :
The display of a large load of vectorial data in "real time" has always been a challenge for software developers. As part of the development of CAD tools to manage a wafer-scale integrated circuit, the volume of data to handle is substantial. This article focuses on the development of a simple and effective display technique to manage software representation of Wafer Scale Integrated circuits using equipment available in common computers (Desktop multimedia PC). Experimental results show a performance improvement by a factor of 254 compared to software vectorial rendering with an “ATI radeon 5570” video card. This paper shows that the proposed display technique normally used for graphic intensive 3D displays (video games, 3D cad tools) can also benefit other 2D applications.
