Abstract :
Cross-sectional study, which used the cell phone camera to photograph simulated Pressure Ulcers (PU) and checked these areas using free software Image J®, and cell phone camera, a very popular equipment nowadays with the ability to capture, store and transmit good quality digital images, allowing exchange of information anywhere in the world. We recorded three objects of different sizes with varying distances and angles. The calculation of these areas was performed using Image J®. The results showed a maximum error of 5.6% concerning areas, and this error is considered low. It is concluded that such new and low cost technique presents an accurate method for measuring the area of UP.
