Abstract
This paper presents a novel approach for estimating mode shape for participation (MSFP) among areas or main power plants involving inter-area oscillation (IAO) mode, by analyzing power deviation (ΔP) signals. The case study has been carried out on a planning case in East China Power Grid (ECPG). The results indicate that the proposed algorithm is effective, and imply its potential applicability in Wide Area Measurement System (WAMS) of bulk power grid as well.
