Abstract :
A novel ultra-wideband chaotic Colpitts oscillator is presented. Instead of the common-base configuration, it is based on the common-collector configuration with an extra inductor in the collector circuit of the transistor. By employing the transistor BFG520/XR, this novel chaotic circuit is experimentally demonstrated that the power spectrum bandwidth of the generated chaotic signals is about 7.44GHz (from 0.56GHz to 8GHz), and the fundamental chaotic oscillation frequency f0 is up to 1.61 GHz. The design is versatile and may be used in a variety of UWB modulation schemes and systems, as IEEE 802.15.4a UWB WPANs(3.1GHz-10.6GHz).
