Abstract :
Emerging fuel cell technology has the potential to power implantable medical devices. A key component in these devices is the proton exchange membrane (PEM). New membrane technology is being developed to improve the efficiency of these fuels cells, such that they can be implanted in medical devices. The purpose of this work is to develop a methodology to evaluate the effectiveness of experimental PEMs. The method employed in this study to evaluate PEMs utilizes electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). An electrochemical cell fixture was also developed in this work.
