Abstract :
Shahid Salimi steam power plant which located in proximity of Caspian Sea is one of the biggest power plants in Iran. Now, the desalination system of this power plant is ion exchange (IE) demineralization units. By considering this fact that there is waste heat in cooling seawater of the cycle condenser of this power plant, this study aimed to introduce proper desalination systems to use that mentioned waste heat. Low temperature flash desalination (LTFD) and reverse osmosis (RO) are two proper desalination systems that will be investigated. By comparing these suggested systems with together, the RO plant will be efficient desalination system for using the condenser waste heat of Shahid Salimi steam power plant.
