Abstract :
Subcooled boiling heat transfer in a vertical annulus was numerically simulated. Water was used as the fluid medium in the simulation of two-phase steady fluid flow with different mass flow rates and different heat flux. In this simulation different degrees of subcooled flow at inlet were used. The governing equations (Navier-Stockes) in each phase are coupled to the other phase through the inter-phase transfer of mass, momentum and heat at the interface. The SIMPLE method served to resolve the governing equations to predict the local distribution of volume fraction and velocity. This study considered the effects of the surface tension force as a function of temperature. The phase´s properties were determined more precisely using the International Association of Properties of Water and Steam (IAPWS) library. The results were compared with experimental data and illustrated a better agreement than other previous numerical simulations have already done.
