  • Abstract
    The conventional reliability-based multidisciplinary design optimization (RBMDO) is the direct integration of reliability analysis methods and deterministic multidisciplinary design optimization (DMDO), which always cause the expensive computations. In order to tackle this computational difficulty, an collaborative strategy for RBMDO is proposed. This strategy is composed of three aspects. Firstly, the triple nested RBMDO loop is decoupled into the DMDO and multidisciplinary reliability analysis with the sequential optimization and reliability assessment (SORA) method. Secondly, the concurrent subspace optimization strategy (CSSO) is adopted in DMDO. Thirdly, the performance measurement approach (PMA) is integrated with collaborative strategy (CO) to implement multidisciplinary reliability analysis concurrently. In addition, both the mathematical model and optimization procedure of the proposed collaborative strategy are put forward. Finally, the proposed method is verified through the design example of gear transmission.
