Chapter News

I am happy to report that we had a wonderful Chapter Chairs´ luncheon meeting in Orlando in July, during the 2013 IEEE AP-S International Symposium. This was the largest AP-S Chapter Chairs meeting in the past six years. 38 Chapter Chairs, representatives, and officers attended the event, as shown in Figure 1. Our current AP-S President, Dr. Trevor Bird, and President Elect Prof. Tapan K. Sarkar were present at the meeting. As seen in Figure 2, Dr. Bird gave an opening address, and thanked all the Chapter Chairs for their voluntary service to the Society. After that, I made a short presentation about Chapter counts, reporting status, and financial summaries. In the end, Dr. Chao-Fu Wang, current Chair of the Singapore Chapter, which was the recipient of this year´s Best Chapter Award, shared with other Chapter Chairs about his Chapter´s successful experience. During the meeting, there were also discussions and suggestions made by Chapter Chairs on how the Society can better support the Chapters in terms of financial and technical support. It should be mentioned here that Chapter Officers can always contact me if they have any question or suggestion.
