Abstract :
This paper discusses the methodology for the digital sound synthesis of the Philippine Rondalla through Physical Modeling. Data gathering that includes audio recording and physical measurements was done for three different venues. Commuted Waveguide Synthesis was used to implement the Physical Model of the various stringed instruments in a Rondalla. The rondalla synthesizer is implemented on personal computers (PC) through MATLAB and on iPad devices. The similarity of the synthesized sounds to the original sounds were determined through a waveform test and a listening test.
