Abstract :
It is clearly reflected in the literature that the top management team (TMT) had a leading role on strategic decision-making and implementation, but the mechanism of action between the top management team and strategic decision was not effectively explained. In this study, from the view of managerial discretion, we put forward the definition of TMT managerial discretion combined with the role of corporate executives. Using the grounded theory, we proposed the model of factors affecting TMT managerial discretion from the in-depth interviews with 13 domestic corporate executives. At last, combined with the decision-making process, this study constructed the mechanism model of TMT managerial discretion to strategic decision, and suggested some theoretical hypotheses.
