Abstract
Pedestrian traffic as an important component of urban traffic has been get more and more attentions from researchers, managers and participants of traffic. In the urban road traffic when vehicles and pedestrians interfere with each other, it will result in both delays. In the past we often consider pedestrian as a interference factors of motor vehicle, little consider that the pedestrian is vulnerable groups in traffic, need to give priority. This paper was based on the pedestrian characteristics on the general pedestrian crossing, combined with the traffic characteristics of university campus, the surrounding environment and physiological and psychological characteristics of college students. Real-field investigate the traffic both inside and surround the campus (Xihua University)to obtain the various experimental data, including walking speed, stride length, etc., thus, attributed a substantial proportion of university student pedestrian traffic flow, speed and street crossing characteristics of behavioral, psychological and security.
