Abstract :
In the coming years the Brazilian electric system will face great challenges such as the integration of new technologies and the insertion of new elements in the power network. This new concept of power network (Smart Grid) combined with a smart metering infrastructure (AMI), will make it feasible to offer new pricing options for the low voltage consumers, which are still absent the regulatory incentives that allow greater management of electricity consumption and participation in the operation and efficiency beside of the electric system. Regarding this, it was created an hourly rate aiming the promotion of the energy management by consumers, especially in periods where the load in the system is higher. This important tool will result in unknown effects to both the consumer as to the system. In this context, this paper proposes a methodology to evaluate the possible effects of this new modality of energy tariff to residential consumers, based on data from the Brazilian Center of Information in Energy Efficiency - PROCEL INFO about habits of use of electric shower. The Monte Carlo method is applied to evaluate the possible scenarios of energy consumption as well as to analyze the impacts related to this (the) new tariff.
