Abstract :
A novel cost-effective dual-WDM-PON based on light source shared scheme is proposed. Wavelengths for downlink and re-modulated uplink are generated using optical carrier suppression single sideband (OCS-SSB) technique and an optical interleaver. The network resource utilization is improved and the Rayleigh backscattering (RB) effect can be mitigated. The 10-Gb/s downlink and 1.25-Gb/s uplink transmission over 25km fiber are experimentally demonstrated.
