Abstract :
Currently, the Internet users have increased dramatically, and their generating traffic has also risen explosively. This tendency will occur sudden traffic fluctuation and increase routing processes on IP level significantly. Under this situation, network link has been growing up to high speed and large capacity because of the development of Optical WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing) technology. Also, the research on virtual network and next-generation network has been advancing. As a result, network control can be much more flexible than before. For realization of highly advanced next-generation network, this paper suggests novel network architecture that can decrease a network scale and can change topology at the IP level dynamically by adaptively leveraging the OXCs (Optical Cross-Connects) and making virtual node function composed of several distantly-positioned OXCs, named “Ameba Node”. We also evaluate its effectiveness by computer simulation.
