  • Abstract
Metro networks need to become more energy-saving and efficient to control traffic from access networks. We propose an optical layer-2 switch network based on WDM/TDM rings in order to achieve dynamic bandwidth allocation (DBA) and ADD/DROP with no buffer/header according to allocated timeslots. We conducted experiments using a prototype based on a 10G-EPON system. The experimental results indicate that the mechanism of DBA in the electrical element allocated at the edge of the proposed network was feasible.
