Abstract
Recently, several subspace-based algorithms for blind channel identification in zero-padded orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (ZP-OFDM) systems were introduced. These subspace-based methods are attractive because highly accurate estimate of the channel can be obtained by using only a few received blocks. However, these subspace-based methods do not work when the ZP-OFDM system has virtual carriers (VC). In this paper, we propose a new subspace-based algorithm for blind channel identification. The proposed method can be applied to ZP-OFDM systems with or without VC. The availability of VC is exploited in our method to further improve the estimation accuracy. Moreover, we do not put any constraint on the locations of VC.
