New MVAC control by making use of human behavioral based technique to achieve energy efficiency

This paper presents the development of image-based room occupancy detection algorithm to control the HVAC system. The number of occupants in the area is determined by a color-based image detection technique. Experiment tests have been performed to verify the accuracy of the image detection algorithm. Images can be obtained from the Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) camera which is installed in the designated area. The image-based room occupancy detection technique can be further developed for the HVAC control system in lecture room and other similar applications.
