Abstract
This article presents the results of an experience of SMS (Short Message Service) use to support teaching and learning in face to face undergraduate courses (Computer Sciences and Management) in a Brazilian university. The students´ perceptions regarding the use of this technology were assessed via a questionnaire answered by the 143 students that participated of the experience. The results indicate that the use of SMS was evaluated positively, being perceived as a resource for receiving information and as an incentive for participation in the discipline. In addition, the students also indicated that the SMS has helped them to remember and summarize important topics of the disciplines due to the nature of these short messages.
