Abstract
We present a variable gain amplifier with novel fast feedforward dc-offset compensation intended for use in an optical linear burst-mode receiver. The amplifier was implemented in a 0.25μm SiGe BiCMOS technology. Its gain can be varied from 0dB till 20dB while maintaining a bandwidth of at least 12GHz, peaking of the frequency response is less than 0.5dB and group delay variation less than 5ps (from 1MHz to 15GHz). Its input-referred dc-offset is less than 15mV after dc-offset compensation (3-sigma).
