A location aware DVB-based early warning system for civil protection

Early warning is an important part of civil protection. These warnings are often disseminated via television to the public. This paper describes a new and improved approach of disseminating early warning messages via digital television datacasting by making use of Internet location technology. This allows the receiving side to evaluate whether affected by an alert or not. This approach was verified by a field trial.
