Abstract
Delivering three dimensional (3D) video streaming over error-prone environments is challenging due to variations of the wireless channel characteristics and the importance of each data source packet for the end-user´s perceptual experience. In this work, we are focusing on extending and applying the work presented in [16] to 3D video streaming. The aim is to apply a Luby Transform (LT) based Unequal Error Protection (UEP) technique that is combined with a symbol-interleaving algorithm, in order to face the burst packet errors that occur in a wireless channel to 3D video streaming. Two UEP strategies are presented that are applied to packet level. In the first one, higher protection is given to the I-based packets from both views, whereas in the second one, higher protection is given to the packets from the base view. Through experimentation from two video sequences, it is shown that the first strategy leads to better-perceived 3D Video Quality under different wireless network conditions.
