Abstract :
In this paper, we investigated the correlation between sea-ice thickness and SAR polarimetric scattering characteristics using four quad-polarimetric RADARSAT-2 SAR images and sea-ice thickness data provided by helicopter-borne electromagnetic instrument (HEM) in the Labrador Sea. It is shown that co-polarized ratio, entropy and alpha angle are sensitive to sea-ice thickness which would provide a reference for the subsequent research on sea-ice thickness retrieval by SAR data. In this paper, co-polarized ratio proposed mainly by recent research had been tried to retrieve sea-ice thickness, then the error was calculated and analyzed.
