Abstract
We introduce ground based collocated multiple input multiple output (MIMO) radar with high angular and Doppler resolution capabilities into space surveillance. A new beam former is put forward to form fan shaped beam which will be useful to capture space targets with high resolution. Detection performance and beam characteristics are taken into account to determine the number of MIMO transmit elements. Theoretic analysis and simulation results both verify the feasibility of the method.
