  • Abstract
A novel design of the bionic Yagi-Uda antenna with low RCS (Radar Cross Section) is proposed. Radiating elements are printed on the top and bottom surfaces of the substrate with dielectric permittivity of 2.65, respectively. Directors printed on the top surface are all composed of two leaf-shaped patches. The structure of the reflector is a rectangle patch with corrugate edges. Its radiation and scattering characteristics are studied and compared with a reference antenna. The results show that the proposed Yagi-Uda antenna has a better broadband performance (a 62.1% bandwidth for S11 ≤ -10dB ) and lower RCS than the reference antenna. The designed antenna serves as a good candidate for the design of broadband end-fire antennas with a requirement of RCS control.
