Abstract :
Knowledge of the vital characteristics of the wall is particularly important for precise localization of targets across the wall in the through-wall imaging. A wall parameter estimation scheme based on the transmitted wave at a standoff distance (and the echo signal model) through the wall to the target is proposed. The mathematical model for target detecting through the wall body is derived. The derived transcendental equations (which consequence of the refraction interference by the wall body) are solved numerically. By comparing the numerical results with the measured results, wall parameters (thickness and permittivity) are estimated (which are closer to the actual measured situation).
