Abstract
The study shows that there are basically two groups of complexities that can be found in development projects. 1) Complexities that inherent in the project and its environment such as a demanding client, or very large number of end-users, novelty, multiplicity of technologies, uncertainty, complexity of interface, diversity of need and so forth, 2) Complications or complexities associated with the efforts (both managerial and technical) that are used so that the project will achieve goal and objectives such as creating value, delivering within giving constraints, satisfying end-users. The second type of complexities is therefore strongly correlated with the choice of the strategy to achieve both project management success (delivering within constraints of time, cost and specifications) and project success (achieving value). The higher ambition level of the success criteria, the more likely that the project will face more complex situations.
