Abstract :
A compact tri-band coplanar waveguide (CPW)-fed planar monopole antenna is proposed for wireless local area network (WLAN) and worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX) applications. By inserting a modified M-shaped strip on the top of the radiation patch, multiple impedance bandwidths covering 2.4/5.2/5.8 GHz WLAN and 3.5/5.5 GHz WiMAX bands are obtained. A fabricated prototype for the proposed tri-band antenna has compact dimensions of 33 × 24 mm2. Moreover, the antenna shows monopole-like radiation patterns and stable antenna gains across the three operating bands.
